A special photo competition is currently taking place in Münsing: the principal of the primary school has called on her students to take pictures of learning at home.

Münsing - What does “learning at home 2.0” look like in corona times? Angret Pauli, principal of the Münsingen primary school, wanted to know from her students, who are currently being taught homeschooling until the schools in Bavaria open again. "We asked the children to document their learning at home using photographs," reports Pauli in a press release. The photo competition should focus on imagination and creativity.

Corona: "Learning at home 2.0"

Angret Pauli knows that the new form of teaching demands a lot from the students and also from the parents. It means dividing the time for the learning units and working on the tasks in a disciplined manner. "Many parents do incredible things and demonstrate a high level of responsibility and patience," the headmistress writes.

But the Münsingen mothers and fathers would also express positive side effects of the Corona crisis, such as having more time for their children, being able to go for a long walk or cycling together. "After the first, somewhat chaotic week, the families have found a learning and leisure rhythm that they can cope with."

Homeschooling: Münsinger rector praises parents

The idea of the photo competition was implemented with enthusiasm. The students would have sent in loads of fun learning scenes - from writing exercises in the hammock, to timpani with the pet, or outdoors. A boy recreated the famous painting "The poor poet" by Carl Spitzweg, who reads in bed. The school publishes the most creative photo weekly on the home page of the primary school homepage. The selection is made by a jury of teachers. In addition, all the pictures sent in can be admired on the school windows in the entrance area.

"It is important not to lose humor, even in difficult times, and to put positive things in the right light," emphasizes Rector Pauli. The competition also encourages exchange with the school, which is particularly important at the moment. All children received personal feedback for their submissions so that they felt noticed and appreciated.

Another primary school project: "Wailing Wall"

Another project at the elementary school that is currently starting to cope with psychological stress is the "Wailing Wall", which the Protestant religious teacher Anette Miklik has launched, writes Angret Pauli. Here the students would have the opportunity to express their complaints, fears, but also joy and praise in their particular situation.

You could put your thoughts on pieces of paper and put them in brightly painted toilet paper rolls. Depending on whether the feelings were positive or negative, the roles would be painted in dark or light colors. As soon as the children are allowed to attend school again, they should bring their collected roles and build up in the entrance area to a "wailing wall", which will stand for a while as a symbol for the time behind them.

A look at the Münsingen municipal council: Although the Greens in Münsing had the largest increase in municipal council seats in the municipal elections, they were left empty-handed in the election for the third mayor.
