The anniversary performance of "Tom and Dudel" in the barrel box in Dachau takes place without an audience and is filmed for YouTube. The film will be shown soon.

Dachau - As is known, the “Tom and Doodle” performance of the folding theater Schwabhausen in the cabaret stage Leierkasten, which was actually planned for last Saturday, could not take place due to the corona-related restrictions for events. But the artists came anyway: They played their piece without an audience and were filmed by a professional camera team!

Actually, the performance was supposed to be an anniversary performance, because 30 years ago the two protagonists of the folding theater Schwabhausen - Martin Prochaska and Thomas Nied - performed for the first time in the cabaret stage. Since then, they have visited the barrel organ again and again and have already inspired several generations of children with their characters Tom and Dudel, Bernd the Bear and the apple man.

Many adults, whom the two still know from their own childhood, were looking forward to seeing Tom and Dudel again. So that the anticipation was not in vain, the organ grinder organized a camera team on Saturday to film how the two artists performed their story of "Tom and Dudel" in the parish hall of the Dachau Peace Church without an audience.

In about a week, the organ grower promises, the performance will be on the YouTube channel of the organ grinder and also on the website of the city of Dachau. "My daughters gave me this idea," says Frank Striegler, the co-founder of the cabaret, who continues to provide advice to the organ grinder despite his move to Murnau. “They had already bought tickets and were very sad that they could not show their children what they loved so much even at this age. For that, they put me in touch with the cameramen. "

The team around the Dachau cameraman Marius Klohn was immediately enthusiastic about the idea. During the shoot, they forego a large part of their fees. Nevertheless, production costs were incurred, of course, and the city of Dachau had agreed to pay part of the costs at short notice.

But those responsible for the lyre box also think that artists should receive a fee. Anyone who has already bought tickets for the performance can support the campaign by donating the admission price.

Further information on this and the piece is now also available on the Leierkastens website at www.leierkasten-dachau.de.
