The numbers impact due to proximity: 50.9% vs. 49.1% . Taking into account the margin of error, one could speak of "technical tie" . A national survey that Clarín agreed shows the new crack that the coronavirus generated in Argentina. The "crack of fear" . Fear of catching vs. concern about the impact on the pocket. Health vs. economy.

The work that shows this striking parity is from Reale Dallatorre Consultores , a firm with origins in Mendoza, but that studies throughout the country for politics and the business world. And it was in his last survey , between May 3 and 6, that this crossing of variables was detected. Until then, the line of fear of the virus was clearly higher than that of economic fear.

The national survey was made based on 2,180 cases online. And their results were presented with a sampling error of +/- 3.8. Clarín put forward one of the most interesting political parts of the job this Saturday. RDT measured the image of the three Kirchners: Cristina beat Máximo and Florencia was last. With a consolation for the former president: Mauricio Macri had worse numbers than her.

Chapter 1 of the report, on "Social Climate", addresses  the new phenomenon . The consultant summarizes it in three keys:

1- "The data released by the study show the appearance of a new crack in Argentina: health vs. economic uncertainty. 50.9% of Argentines admit feeling frightened by the coronavirus, while 49.1 % maintains that they are more concerned that their economic situation will worsen. "

Reale Dallatorre Consultores National Survey. May 2020.

2- "Concern about the impact of quarantine on the economy of the country in general and of each family in particular, has begun to escalate more strongly in social humor, than concern about the circulation of the virus. The economic situation leads the ranking of citizen concerns (60% the union as the issue that most concerns them). 71% affirm that their family finances are currently between overwhelming and worrying (10% and 61%, respectively). Only 5.6 % believes that next month its economy will improve. "

3 - "More than half of Argentines (52.2%) consider that their economic resources would not allow them to sustain a quarantine of the characteristics of the current one, beyond the month of May (25% up to 10 and 27% up to End of the month)".

Group differences

When the consultancy breaks down the results of these fears by sex, age and educational level , the following results stand out:

- Women are slightly more afraid of catching it (51.5%) and men of the economic impact (51.1%).

Reale Dallatorre Consultores National Survey. May 2020.

- Those over 50, predictably, lead in fear of the virus (59%); and young adults, from 30 to 49 years old (53.6%), among those concerned about the pocket.

- At the educational level, in the "low" and "high", fear of contagion predominates; and in the "medium", due to the economic impact.

RDT also addresses this new crack according to occupation :

Reale Dallatorre Consultores National Survey. May 2020.

- Those most concerned about the virus are the "entrepreneurs" (75%), the "retirees" (67.8%) and the "professionals in a relationship of dependency" (65.2%).

- Among those concerned about the economy are "independent workers / merchants" (65%) and "unemployed" (58%).

This new relationship of forces perhaps explains two changes that are also being detected in the last days / weeks: on the one hand, a relaxation in fact of isolation, with people and cars moving above what is allowed; and on the other, a slight drop in the image of Alberto Fernández, who prioritizes health in his speech and now must live with more people who demand an economic opening.
