The FH documents show that the number of primary schools participating in seasonal influenza vaccine outreach activities has increased significantly in the past three years. In the 2017/18 school year, 65 elementary schools participated, and in the 2018/19 school year it rose to 405. As for this school year, as of the 3rd of this month, a total of 544 primary schools participated.

The number of children vaccinated against seasonal influenza from 6 months to under 12 years of age also increased year-on-year. Most of them were vaccinated through the School Outreach Vaccination Pilot Program. The total number of vaccinated in the 2017/18 school year was about 150,000, and it rose to more than 300,000 in the 2018/19 school year. As of the 3rd of this month, more than 390,000 babies and school children were vaccinated.

In 2018/19, more than 98% of Primary One and Primary Six students completed the mixed vaccines for diphtheria, tetanus, acellular pertussis and inactivated polio, as well as the mixed vaccines for measles, mumps and German measles. In addition, more than 98% of Primary Six schoolchildren have also been vaccinated against hepatitis B vaccine, with a coverage rate similar to that of previous years.

The number of vaccines given to newborn babies in the hospital fell slightly. The number of infants who received BCG vaccine and the first dose of hepatitis B vaccine last year was about 52,000, which is about 1,000 less than the previous year.
