The decree of the Executive Power on Sunday jeopardized the harmony between the ruling party and the opposition. DNU 457/2020 ordered an increase in public spending of $ 498 billion, but - as interpreted by opponents - will also allow the coordinating minister to reallocate the total budget without the control of the Legislative Branch. They demand its repeal.
"I have just presented a bill to repeal articles 4 and 6 of DNU 457/2020, since they signify the return of the superpowers of the Chief of the Cabinet of Ministers to modify the Budget as they please," said Mario Negri, the head of the Together for Change Interblock. Federal Consensus and Federal Unit also rejected the presidential decree.
