At 4 o'clock in the morning, a N21 double-decker city bus heading along Nathan Road in the direction of Tsim Sha Tsui. When passing the junction of the upper site, the roof on the right bumped into a boom platform. The bus front glass burst, and the platform fell suddenly. The report fell, but fortunately there was no tragedy. Two workers on the platform escaped and suffered only minor injuries and were sent to the hospital for treatment.
It is understood that at the time of the incident, some of the traffic lanes on the closed site were under construction. Two workers took the boom workbench and ascended the pedestrian bridge to build a temporary working platform. It is suspected that the boom extended beyond the city bus and caused an accident when it arrived. Police are investigating the incident and traffic on the scene was temporarily blocked.

In 1998, the government announced the "Mong Kok New Pedestrian Overpass System" plan. The flyover straddled Nathan Road to Lai Yee Street and then along Lai Yee Street to connect Mong Kok Road to Bute Street. The first phase of the project was completed as early as 2002, that is, the current section from Mong Kok Road to Sai Yee Street, including the section between Mong Kok Station and Mong Kok East Station.
However, the second phase of Mong Kok Road spanned an extension of less than 100 meters on Nathan Road. It was not until 2011 that the underground facility relocation project began and the foundation works in 2016 were not started. According to the Highways Department, a series of problems occurred after the start of construction, including the discovery of undocumented underground utilities at the site, changes in the depth of underground rock layers, the relationship between weather and weather, the modification of the main bridge design to steel structure, anti-repair movement and new Due to the impact of the coronavirus epidemic, the latest completion date of the flyover is expected to be postponed to the first to second quarters of 2021.
