S-Bahn chaos in Munich: reason now known - crane touches overhead line, bang and arc follow

Update 7:20 pm:  Now the reason for the problems with the S-Bahn Munich is known: The rope of a crane has touched the overhead line of the S-Bahn at Ostbahnhof - near Orleansstraße

According to the fire brigade, strong winds had turned the crane on Monday afternoon, whereupon the lifting rope touched the 110,000 volt line at the Ostbahnhof. An arc with a massive bang was the result.

Because the crane stood on wooden panels, the spokesman continued to smoke, according to the spokesman. Even though the power on the line had been switched off, the fire brigade was unable to remove the rope from the overhead line, as there was still too much residual current for a long time afterwards. Nobody got hurt.
