The General Commission for Fish Wealth has cultivated 90 carp irrigation basins in the Lattakia and Rural Damascus governorates.
The General Director of the authority, Dr. Abd al-Latif Ali, told SANA correspondent that the authority, in cooperation with the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Agriculture, distributed 1,250 fingerlings of general carp fish to 25 watering basins among farmers in Ain Shaqqaq, which included the villages of Bishkouh and Tabarja in Lattakia governorate where the basins were chosen with small areas and an average of 50 Finger fingerlings for each pond with the aim of supporting the agricultural economy of farmers and raising the per capita fish.
Ali explained that the authority, in cooperation with the Directorate of Agriculture in Latakia, also distributed 4,050 fingerlings of carp fish to 27 watering basins of farmers in Sattamoo and Bani Issa in Lattakia countryside.
The Director-General of the Commission pointed out the implementation of a practical statement to farmers, during which they were guided to the method of feeding during breeding, in addition to knowing the changes that can happen to the aquatic environment during breeding, methods of measuring temperature and oxygen, and how to deal technically with fish during breeding.
The authority also distributed 10 thousand fingerlings of general carp fish free of charge to 38 family farms who own watering ponds in the Qarhata area of Damascus countryside as a first stage, knowing that in the next few days, the culture of the Damascus countryside sector will be completed with fingerlings in three stages.
