The Organized Crime and Triad Investigation Division (O) together with the mobile unit conducted an operation code-named "THUNDERBOLT" early this morning (18th) to combat illegal gambling establishments controlled by the Triad. According to information, the police raided six suspected illegally operated fishing machine gambling stalls in Mong Kok in the early hours of the morning. Agent O raided a unit at 74 Tung Choi Street, Mong Kok, and found gambling and drug-using tools and a small amount of drugs. During the period when the agents entered the unit, they found three suspects trying to escape outside the unit window. After persuasion, the three returned to the unit and were arrested. During the police search, a man was found lying on the platform of the upper site, suspecting that he had fallen from a height.

The 58-year-old man who fell into the building was surnamed Zhou and was taken to Guanghua Hospital in a coma. He was later certified dead. Initial investigations by the police believed that the deceased had fallen from a unit at the site above. The cause of death was to be determined after a post-mortem examination. The case listed "Someone fell from a height" and was followed up by the Criminal Investigation Team of the Mong Kok Police District. It is understood that the dead man "Zhou Tsai" is unemployed, has drugs, gambling, and is a member of the triad. He is alleged to have been with the Xinyi'an triad, and is said to be a regular gambling patron.

As for the three men and women who tried to escape, a 44-year-old man was arrested for "operating a gambling establishment" and "Tibetan drug"; a 22-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman were arrested for "gambling in a gambling establishment" and "Tibetan drug". During the operation, police officers seized 3 fishing machines, account books, game cards, 3 small quantities of suspected drugs and 1 curling inside the unit.

During the whole Thunder 20 operation in the early morning, a total of 6 suspected illegal fishing machine gambling stalls were searched in Mong Kok. A total of 28 people were arrested, 17 men and 11 women, aged between 22 and 61 years old. They were suspected of "managing gambling establishments". "Gambling in a gambling establishment", "I did not carry identification documents when I went out", "Possession of drugs" and "Possession of tools for drug use".

During the operation, police officers seized a total of 15 gaming machines, 3 card readers, 26 credit cards, 6 book books for redemption, 13 curling, a small amount of drugs and cash. All arrested persons were detained for investigation.
