Kassel -  Murder in five cases, dangerous bodily harm in eleven cases and the violation of the Alternative Practitioners Act are charged with Maike W., the wrong doctor , who works at the Hospital for the Holy Spirit in Fritzlar ( Schwalm-Eder-Kreis ). The public prosecutor's office in Kassel has now brought charges to the district court in Kassel. Because of the creeping of the employment in the hospital, the woman from the Kassel district is also accused of falsifying documents and fraud, said Chief Prosecutor Dr. Götz Wied.

Murder in 5 cases: wrong doctor from the Schwalm-Eder district is accused

The 49-year-old, who most recently lived in Kiel and has been in custody since October 29, 2019, among other things for murder, is suspected of having falsified documents as an assistant doctor. 

She worked in the hospital in Fritzlar from early November 2015 to August 2018, most recently in controlling. Previously, she was employed in other departments, including until the end of October 2017 as an assistant doctor in the anesthesia department. There, the accused is said to have carried out anesthesia independently several times as an assistant doctor, although she did not have the necessary training.

The case of the wrong doctor at the Hospital for the Holy Spirit in Fritzlar has sparked great media interest nationwide.

There were multiple treatment errors, such as the incorrect dosage of anesthetics and the overlooked event of an aspiration. There are 16 accused cases in which health damage - such as organ damage due to insufficient blood circulation - is said to have occurred. In five of these cases, patients, two men (58 and 80 years old) and three women (77, 81 and 86 years old) are said to have died as a result of the incorrect treatment - due to multi-organ failure, serious damage to the cardiovascular system. 

Murder in five cases: the wrong doctor acted out of selfish motives

The accused is said to have accepted the murder for selfish reasons, the chief prosecutor said. In addition, she has to answer for suspected commercial fraud in three cases, forged documents in five and misuse of titles and job titles in nine cases. No decision has yet been taken on the opening of the main proceedings.

Murder in five cases: Investigations into the wrong doctor have been underway since early 2019

The investigation into the case of the wrong doctor Meike W., who worked at the Hospital zum Heiligen Geist in Fritzlar (Schwalm-Eder-Kreis) from 2015 to 2018 and wanted to become mayor in Bad Emstal in 2012, has recently continued. 

The public prosecutor's office in Kassel had already started investigating the former doctor of the Fritzlarer Hospital (Schwalm-Eder-Kreis) in early 2019.
