A video of three photographed girls with a man in a secluded area that went viral in Pakistan this week led to the murder of two of the girls, aged 18 and 16, for the sake of blasphemy for the family. The third girl was taken into custody and hidden from her relatives so they would not be murdered. Police arrested two major suspects in the two murders, one of them being the father of one of the girls and the other being her brother.
The video was actually filmed about a year ago, so it was a long time online. The reason for the men's awakening in families and the horrific murders is due to the fact that he recently became a viral, hurting the so-called "family honor". A Pakistani police official said: "The murder took place last Thursday in a village in the state border. Our main effort is not only to investigate the murder, but to save the third girl from a similar fate, and she is in hiding under police protection."
According to International Human Rights Watch, the killing of women on the grounds of family dignity in Pakistan is taking place very frequently, "This remains a serious problem in the religious state." However, the regime has difficulty enforcing the law on tribal areas across the state, where there is almost no representation to the law authorities.
