Organized on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the death of the Renaissance painter (1483-1520), the exhibition opened at the Écuries du Quirinal on March 5 and was initially scheduled to end on June 2, coinciding with the celebrations of the Feast of the Italian Republic.
“The exhibition, suspended for about three months due to the health emergency of the Covid-19, will remain open until August 30, 2020, thanks to a long extension made possible by the availability and solidarity of museum institutions and collectors who loaned the works ”, explain the organizers in their press release.
The reception of visitors will be done in accordance with the “most scrupulous” safety instructions, they assure. The opening hours will be extended every day from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
In addition to the prestigious Florence Uffizi Gallery, the Louvre in Paris, the National Gallery in London and Washington and the Prado Museum in Madrid have loaned works for this exhibition.
With more than 200 works, including 120 by Raphaël, it is one of the largest exhibitions ever devoted to Raffaello Sanzio, known as Raphaël, who, with Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci, forms a sort of trinity of the great masters of the Renaissance.
