Don't spray disinfectants, says WHO

Spraying disinfectants outside or in wide interior spaces to try to remove the coronavirus can do more harm than good, the WHO said in an updated infection control advisory. It also indicates that watering people with these chemicals is a very bad idea because of the health risks it entails. In another statement, the WHO states that it is "essential" to learn more about the multisystemic inflammatory syndrome observed in some children and adolescents with covid-19.

Lack of immunity worries China

China still faces the "big challenge" of a possible second wave of covid-19 infections, Dr. Zhong Nanshan warned, and the lack of immunity among the community is a serious concern as the race to develop a vaccine continues. Zhong is the chief medical adviser to the Chinese government and the public face of the country's fight against covid-19. In an exclusive interview with CNN, he said that local authorities in Wuhan, the city where the new coronavirus was first reported in December, suppressed key details about the magnitude of the initial outbreak.

Bukele extends emergency law

The President of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, extended the National Emergency Law for a further 30 days with an executive decree and without the approval of the Legislative Assembly. Before the measure, the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation filed a claim of unconstitutionality before the Supreme Court. The Emergency Law empowers the President to make direct purchases without the need to carry out a bidding process and the Ministry of Finance to make transfers between ministries.
