The Minister of Health, Dr. Nizar Yazji, stated during a speech via video that the health workers in Syria are responding with a pandemic with courage and under exceptional circumstances imposed by the terrorist war that has been going on for more than nine years and that is associated with unjust and coercive economic measures that unilaterally restrict the capacity of the service sectors, especially The medical section.

Minister Yazigi pointed out that at a time when countries with strong health and economic systems are facing difficulty in containing the epidemic and saving lives, the United States and European countries continue to impose coercive measures on Syria and its inhuman blockade that impedes the health sector's ability to respond to the pandemic and provide the necessary equipment for prevention, diagnosis and treatment again By lifting the coercive measures on Syria so that it can protect its health security and the life and safety of its citizens in various circumstances.

Dr. Yazji said: “We deplore the insistence of the United States and European countries to block the inclusion of the draft resolution before the current session on responding to the Corona epidemic, clear commitments to lift measures that hinder the ability of target countries to effectively respond to the epidemic,” adding that the health status of our people in Palestine and the occupied Syrian Golan, and not Especially the prisoners among them in the occupation prisons

"It is a matter of concern in light of the brutal practices against them and the deliberate medical neglect, which makes them easy prey to the Corona pandemic, and calls on the international organizations to stand up to their responsibilities towards them."

Dr. Yazigi pointed out that the convening of the current session of the World Health Assembly by default at a time when the pandemic of "Covid 19" prevented it from being held in its traditional form, emphasizing the necessity of adhering to the basic principle that the United Nations calls for, which is solidarity and collective cooperation in facing challenges and avoiding politicization of the work of the organization. Especially as the world faces a pandemic today that has serious repercussions on health and economic systems.

Dr. Yazigi concluded his speech by stressing that China has contributed to facing this pandemic, and the countries of the world should recognize only one China, the People's Republic of China.

It is noteworthy that the World Health Assembly is the highest decision-making body in the World Health Organization and meets once a year with the participation of delegations from all its 194 Member States, international organizations and bodies and donors.
