The post-primary has changed his position

The duty of the iron-barrier type is to build a steel frame (flower cage) made of steel bars and iron wires to strengthen the load-bearing capacity of the main walls and columns of the building. It is an indispensable process of construction, especially when the large-scale infrastructure is launched In addition, the iron-binding workers are in short supply, making the income of the iron-tie industry one of the highest in the construction industry. In recent years, new technology has also swept through the iron binding industry. With the help of technology, the work of iron binding workers can be made safer and easier. For example, there are now fully automated iron bending machines. Compared with the old type iron bending machines that require manual operation, it can effectively reduce work. Strain injury and work injury.

Li Bingxun was transferred from the theme park as a train driving instructor to tie-tie three years ago. He is more proud to say that he is a full-time tie-breaker in Hong Kong for the first month of salary: "After five years in college, I worked in the theme park and found that the industry has little chance of promotion. The income is also not proportional to labor. On the contrary, the construction industry has always worked hard, and hard work will get corresponding returns! "Bingxun's example:" The monthly income of first-time iron-working workers can reach 25,000 to 30,000 yuan; Monthly income can be as high as more than 50,000 Hong Kong dollars. In this way, the income is higher than many white-collar workers, which is of course attractive to young people. "

Li Bingxun (second from right) switched to tie-tie in 2017 and participated in many large-scale projects, such as Ocean Park Water Park and West Kowloon Cultural District. In 2019, he also won the Youth Luban Award and the Best Apprentice Award.

Bingxun completed the short-term course of HKIC steel bar bending class in 2017. After graduation, he obtained the qualification of Zhonggong and was introduced by HKIC. He is grateful that HKIC has opened a professional path for him: "HKIC has both theoretical and practical skills. Most of the course will be practical training, and learn the skills of communication with the master, understanding the real building structure, etc. All skills meet the actual work needs. Therefore, the HKIC course is highly accepted and it is very easy for graduates to apply for a job. "

Diploma certification

In response to the market's demand for manpower in the iron industry, as well as laying promotion ladders for prospective entrants, HKIC launched a one-year "Construction Diploma (Reinforcement Bending)" course, suitable for young people with Secondary 6 qualifications. Graduates can Obtaining "two-factor certification", including obtaining the intermediate-level craft test (middle engineering) qualifications and the qualification structure approved by the Hong Kong Council for Academic and Vocational Qualifications Level 3 *, during which you can also be admitted to the VTC foundation course diploma for free. Bingxun believes that the industry gradually needs more knowledgeable technicians and has higher academic qualifications. In the future, it can advance to the management: "In addition to front-line work, the iron-tie industry also includes dismantling and other work. It requires a person with a higher education and related technical skills. As a result, there are more options for development. "

* Construction Diploma (Reinforcement Bending) course: the qualification register number is 19/000992 / L3, and the effective date is from 1/9/2019 to 31/8/2022.

Girl as a site assistant foreman keeps improving

The tradition of the construction industry is a world of macho men, "𡃁 妹" is difficult to integrate, but Zheng Xina turned to the construction industry because of optimistic prospects. "Before I was engaged in customer service, the work was dull and there was no opportunity for promotion. Later I saw the promotional leaflet, which happened to be Hong Kong Starting the ten major infrastructure projects, she feels that the construction industry has good prospects. "So, she enrolled in HKIC's two-year" Higher Diploma in Building Construction Supervision "and was given a HKIC guarantee to study for a higher diploma in architecture at VTC for free. After graduation, introduced by HKIC, he joined Xinhui Construction Co., Ltd. as an assistant supervisor, responsible for following up the progress of the project and supervising the work of the workers.

Zheng Xina was awarded the Outstanding Apprentice Award of the Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fund in 2016/17.

During her study at HKIC, in addition to her knowledge of engineering supervision, such as contract documents and safety supervision, Hina also participated in practical training on site. She believes that the course is comprehensive. "We need to contact and master specific tasks such as nailing, ironing, and painting. Otherwise, we will not understand the actual work of the workers, and even the tools used by the workers are not necessarily known. How can we supervise the project." A group of strong men get along, she said that women are more likely to communicate with workers than men, especially in the face of "teacher" to be both hard and hard, and explain the problem tactfully, "I have been on the construction site for a period of time while studying at HKIC. I am familiar with the communication with the master, so when I actually work, I already know how to reason and let them accept it. "Completion of the advanced diploma without tuition allows Hina to save a lot of tuition fees, so she completes the bachelor course part-time after completing the course. Plan to enroll in a master's program at the end of the year to further equip yourself and take your career to the next level.

Both Bingxun and Xina believe that although working hard in the construction industry, the promotion ladder is clear and the income is considerable. The rapid development of Hong Kong's construction industry, coupled with the fact that many employees have reached the retirement age, the industry desperately needs newcomers to join the industry, and young people will be able to win a day with hard work.

Shortage of skilled talents, high employment rate

According to the estimates of the Construction Industry Council, the overall annual construction expenditure in Hong Kong will reach HK $ 225 billion to HK $ 300 billion in the next ten years, and there is a strong demand for young, knowledgeable technical talents in the industry. HKIC's 2018/19 Graduate Survey also shows that the average employment rate of graduates with one- to two-year full-time courses is over 90%, of which the employment rate of higher diplomas is 100%, and the average monthly salary of new entrants is HK $ 15,000.

HKIC's full-time construction certificates, diplomas and higher diplomas are suitable for graduates from Secondary Three to Secondary Six, Yijin Diploma, and young graduates. The curriculum focuses on whole-person development, including volunteer services and sports training, helping students understand themselves, analyze problems, and realize their potential. The courses are free of tuition and provide training subsidies.
