Motorists who could not carry out the technical control of their vehicle during confinement have until June 23 at the latest to get in order, the government announced on Tuesday.

"With more than 6,000 centers active throughout France, the government recalls that all controls (periodic technical visit, counter-visit, additional visit, additional counter-visit) must be carried out by June 23, 2020 at the latest" , according to a press release from the Ministry of Ecological Transition. At the end of March, owners of light vehicles had benefited from an extension of three months, after a request to that effect from professionals worried about having to work in the midst of the coronavirus crisis.
Technical controls expired on March 12
For the technical inspection of heavy goods vehicles and public transport vehicles, a tolerance of 15 days was granted. "The motorists concerned are those whose technical control has expired since March 12," said the ministry, adding that for other vehicles, "the legal regulatory calendar continues its course and the deadlines are not changed" .
