(ANSA) - POTENZA, MAY 19 - The Prosecutor of the Republic of Taranto, Carlo Maria Capristo, is under house arrest on charges of corruption in court documents. The same measure was carried out against a police inspector serving in the Taranto prosecutor's office and three entrepreneurs from the province of Bari. The investigation, which began a year ago, is carried out by the prosecutor of the Republic of Potenza.
According to the accusation, the suspects allegedly carried out "unequivocally suitable acts" to induce a young substitute at the Prosecutor's Office of Trani to prosecute a person whom the entrepreneurs, considered the principals, had reported for usury. According to the investigation, however, there were no factual or legal conditions for the complaint.
In addition to Capristo, the inspector Michele Scivittaro, serving in the Taranto Public Prosecutor, and the Apulian entrepreneurs Giuseppe, Cosimo and Gaetano Mancazzo are under house arrest. The magistrate, however, not only strongly opposed, but denounced everything. For the complaint - he established - the investigation - there were no conditions in fact or in law. Capristo and Scivittaro, moreover, are "seriously suspected of fraud against the State and false": the inspector was present in the office and perceived overtime, but in reality he was at home and was doing "tasks" on behalf of the Prosecutor. This morning, searches were carried out against other people and also from another magistrate, who is being investigated for abuse of office and personal aiding.
