Ministry of Health officials: "Opening of synagogues - in a few days"

Prime Minister Netanyahu, together with the government ministers, decided to allow the opening of the synagogues starting tomorrow, provided there were no more than 50 participants in the prayer room and provided a distance of 2 meters between one worshiper and another.

In addition, it was decided that each synagogue would have to appoint a "trustee of Corona," which would be responsible, among other things, for maintaining strict adherence to the rules for prayer participants, and for examining the heat for entering. At the same time, it is compulsory for all worshipers to wear masks and adhere to hygiene rules.

Meanwhile, Chief Rabbi of Israel Rabbi David Lowe welcomed the outline reached and will open the synagogues starting tomorrow. The statement said that "the Chief Rabbi thanks the Prime Minister, the Minister of Health, the Minister of Internal Affairs and the Chief of the NSC who have responsibly decided to open the synagogues by adhering to the remoteness guidelines in order to prevent a recurrence of the Corona virus."

Rabbi Lowe also stated that "Chief Rabbi urges the general public to pay close attention to the synagogue and to adhere strictly to prevent the situation in which the synagogues will be forced to close again."
