The Hong Kong Law Society held its annual general meeting on the 28th of this month and elected five directors. Among them, there are 5 members considered pro-democratic this year, competing with pro-organizational candidates. Two of the democratic candidates, voluntary lawyers Lin Yangjun and Cai Yingde attended today's (20th) program. They believed that the current Law Society's position is too pro-government, and some issues that seriously affect the rule of law, such as Article 22 of the Basic Law Controversy, etc. have not been actively voiced, so I hope to add different voices in the meeting.

They also pointed out that Peng Yunxi, president of the Law Society, recently recommended five candidates who are considered to be pro-organized to some lawyers in their own names. They questioned that she would preside over the election later. There were obvious conflicts of interest and unfair practices.

Lin Yangjun pointed out that he has paid attention to the society ’s expectations and hopes that lawyers will speak more about the rule of law and protect the front line of the rule of law. In recent years, the rule of law system that Hong Kong has relied on in the past has been threatened, such as whether Article 22 of the Basic Law recently regulates Hong Kong and Macao The government ’s interpretation of the issue of the Office and the Liaison Office has changed over and over again, and finally obeyed the Western Ring calibre. Obviously, it is to continuously interpret the law to meet political needs. He believes that this has a serious impact on the rule of law. Lin Yangjun believes that the past lawyers are more conservative in social issues.

Lin Yangmeng mentioned that President Peng Yunxi should show that she would treat every candidate fairly, so she supported pro-organization candidates in her personal name earlier. He thinks this statement is not suitable. Lin Yangjun pointed out that Peng Yunxi needs to preside over elections. Before the election, he expressed support for some people, which will affect the credibility of the people, because justice must show the people. He also pointed out that Peng Yunxi appealed to lawyers not to attend the annual meeting in person on the grounds of the epidemic. However, this election has no forums or exchanges to let members understand the candidate's platform.

Lin Yangjun reminded members that if they intend to mail the ballots, they will be sent by Friday (22nd) at the latest, but of course the best way is to attend the vote in person on May 28.
