Apparently Hedwig Lindal, the goalkeeper of Sweden's women's team, has had to deal with scary threats to her life in the past year.

Lindal, who excelled at the Swedish gate at the last women's World Cup in France (Sweden finished third), said in an interview in the country that the threats came from the side of a frustrated American gambler, who lost huge sums of money after gambling, among other things, at the women's World Cup.

"The guy threatened me on Instagram and wrote to me, 'I'll rape you, cut you to pieces and cut you off on the aorta as you sleep,'" the 37-year-old goalkeeper said. "It was scary. Because he detailed exactly what would do to me and my body. He just wrote how he was planning to kill me."
