The Spanish Government authorized the resumption of major sports and professional competitions, so the Professional Soccer League will return on June 8 .

This was stated this Saturday by the President of the Executive, Pedro Sánchez, during a remote press conference from La Moncloa.

"With the endorsement of the Higher Sports Council, the government gave the green light for La Liga to be held again," Sánchez said.

The Executive, as Sánchez explained, set June 8 as the date for the competition to resume because at that moment "phase 3 of the de-escalation will begin in much of Spain."

The Prime Minister assured that the Spanish League will return "in conditions that guarantee maximum sanitary conditions." "Spanish soccer has a massive following," he said.

At the same time, Sánchez announced that there will be a tourist season this summer and that foreign tourists will enter the country from July .

The Prime Minister called on Spaniards and foreign tourists to plan their vacations, with the aim of reviving the tourism sector , one of the hardest hit by the crisis.

Sánchez announced that the entry of foreign tourists to Spain will be "in security conditions."

"There will be a tourist season this summer, with the purpose of reviving national tourism, so I invite all establishments, bars, restaurants and all tourist destinations in the country to resume their activity," said the president.

Hours earlier, thousands of people demonstrated from their cars in numerous cities in Spain, called by the far-right Vox party, to protest the management of the Sánchez government during the coronavirus pandemic, demand his resignation and demand freedom of movement.

Large rows of cars, from which the flags of Spain flew, went out into the streets of the center of Spanish cities, after they obtained authorization from the courts, since the country being in a state of alarm, the freedom of movement and numerous gatherings of people, in order to prevent the spread of the virus.

The largest protest took place in Madrid, where hundreds of cars drove through the main streets of the central Salamanca district, one of the highest in the capital, and where the protest cacerolazos began two weeks ago.

Vox leader Santiago Abascal, who led the Madrid demonstration, accused the government of "the worst management of the crisis on the entire planet" and of "hiding information that could have saved lives", and warned that it will bring him before Justice, in a speech delivered during the march.
