Fourteen new asymptomatic cases - seven among the staff, seven among patients, especially from the geriatrics center - were identified after a second wave of screening on Friday, the results of which were communicated to the Loudun hospital on Saturday, said Saturday, May 23 at AFP Olivier Goyer, CFDT delegate for the hospital. The seven hospital workers were put on sick leave, in isolation at their home. The placement of positive patients was being determined and some could be transferred to the Poitiers University Hospital, in a sector dedicated to Covid-19, according to the same source.
The Nouvelle-Aquitaine regional health agency could not be reached on Saturday evening to confirm the final results of the screenings. She had previously indicated that austerity measures, isolation of infected patients, sick leave for staff, contact-tracing, would be triggered in the event of new cases. Screenings at the Loudun site had been initiated after a first case detected last week in a patient arriving from the hospital in Saumur (Maine-et-Loire), where a "cluster had been identified" shortly after his transfer to Loudun , explained the Poitiers University Hospital on Friday.
