The City Council's Transport and Environment Committee once again dealt with the subject of cable cars. One thing became very clear: the showcase project costs a lot of money.
Dachau - For more than a year, the Dachau city council has been dreaming of a cable car that will transport thousands of commuters from the large district town to Munich without noise and with low pollution levels. A “Cable Car Potential Analysis” specifically commissioned for this purpose and presented on Wednesday in the City Council's Traffic and Environment Committee has now produced the desired result. A 12.9-kilometer route between Dachau via Karlsfeld and MAN / MTU to Moosach train station could be operated economically.
The potential analysis developed by the PTV Group saw 24,000 possible passengers, the pure travel time would be 21 minutes. The only problem: the showcase project costs a lot of money, according to the analysis, 30 million euros would have to be invested in every kilometer of the cable car. These approaches would “result from the structural narrowness in urban areas such as Dachau, which necessitates a correspondingly more complex configuration of the cable car. This includes, for example, the use of larger cabins, air conditioning or a barrier-free entry ”.
Peter Strauch (CSU) also noted that “there is no route that does not go through private houses. That will be an outcry ”! Peter Gampenrieder (ÜB) therefore asked “to remain realistic at times. We're talking about an investment of 390 million euros! ”Sure, everyone wants to have the train,“ but we can't afford it now, and we won't be able to in five years. ”
Mayor Florian Hartmann also admitted that the project could not be managed by the city of Dachau alone. "But we just have to talk about whether it's a sensible topic or not." His contacts: the municipality of Karlsfeld, the state capital of Munich and the district of Dachau. If he is interested there, the cable car construction should continue "with the involvement of the Free State". The majority of the committee gave him the green light for these talks. Traffic officer Volker C. Koch (SPD), who is basically an advocate of the cable car project, said in any case, given the planning horizon, which probably lasted for decades: "It will definitely take a while. But if we don't tackle it now, when? "
