Two peacekeepers of the United Nations Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo were wounded Thursday by repelling a rebel attack on one of their bases in the east of the country, said Monusco. The attack targeted a temporary base at Mikenge in the province of South Kivu.
At least three people were also injured in the attack on an IDP camp in Mikenge, according to UN radio Okapi. The Congolese army puts forward the figure of seven wounded.
The army also announces that a rebel has been "neutralized" , according to its spokesman in the region, Captain Dieudonné Kasereka, joined by an AFP correspondent.
