According to the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, the number of corona deaths rose to around 100,400 by Wednesday evening (local time). The number of registered infections was almost 1.7 million.

The United States is by far the worst affected country by the pandemic. After the increase in the number of fatalities there had slowed down significantly over the past few days, it has now increased again sharply: The Johns Hopkins researchers counted 1401 further corona deaths within 24 hours.
