Kuh Hilde and her herd marched together towards the horse village and the Hessian border, but then disappeared in the forest on Ulsterberg near Eisenach .

According to Mayor Roland Ernst, the animals were even searched with a thermal imager attached to a drone. The animals were also tracked during this campaign. "They were in the thicket in the forest on Ulsterberg," reported Roland Ernst.

Eisenach: Kuh Hilde gives birth to calf alone in the forest

Several of the 15 cows that had made headlines when fleeing to Ulsterberg near Eisenach have calved.

Hilde has also become a mother - unlike her companions, however, not on the paddock, but alone in the forest on Ulsterberg. Now Hilde is back, together with her offspring.

"It is a male calf," said Veiko Schmidt, head of the agricultural association "Rhönpforte" Sünna. On April 16, Kuh Hilde escaped from her stable in Sünna with 14 companions .

Herd of cattle left Eisenach - Kuh Hilde was still missing

While the other cows were caught two weeks after their flight and have been standing in a paddock on Ulsterberg near Eisenach , cow Hilde initially disappeared without a trace. Various searches by the employees of the agricultural company were unsuccessful.

"We had sat several times on the high seats that the horse hunter had given us for this - but have not seen them for a long time," said Veiko Schmidt.

Eisenach: Footsteps indicated missing cow

Finally, the cow found footprints in the forest - and also a calf. It was clear that Hilde now needs a lot of water: "She has to drink more because the milk has started."

Thereupon water barrels were put up again to lure Hilde out of the forest near Eisenach . In addition, a track with cattle salt and minerals was laid to a paddock specially built for Hilde.

Then the cow was sighted at night. "She only came out of the forest at dusk to eat and drink," but always alone - and then returned to her calf, which nobody knew where it was.

In the night of Saturday she came to the watering hole with the calf for the first time. Veiko Schmidt reported that employees who were again on the lookout had managed to lock the paddock behind the animals.

That day, Hilde and her son were brought to their own kind on the actual paddock near Eisenach , "so that they are all reunited - mothers and children," said Veiko Schmidt with a laugh.

Eisenach: Kuh Hilde was "totally overgrown"

"Everything was annoying and exhausting," said the head of agriculture, looking back. Because of the observations , the employees of the company were away for nights. And then on the day of Ascension, the paddock was also damaged, "so that there was no electricity on it".

It was therefore doubly fortunate that Kuh Hilde, who had been “totally overgrown” after fleeing Eisenach for more than five weeks , could even be caught.

“Of course she was very shy, but she stayed there. Everything went well. So there is still a happy ending, ”Veiko Schmidt announced happily.

Missing cow at Eisenach: This is how Hilde got her name

The last missing cow at Eisenach owes its name to the visit of a camera team from RTL . The transmitter wanted the animal not to come across as anonymous.

Therefore, the boss of the "Rhön gate" had given her the name Hilde.
