The area of land cultivated with wheat and barley crops in Al-Hasakeh Governorate affected by fires in the current season reached 6600 hectares.

The Director of Agriculture, Engineer Ragab Salama, stated in a statement to the SANA reporter that the area affected by the fires was distributed over 2,500 hectares of wheat and 4100 hectares of barley concentrated in the southern and western regions of the governorate countryside, indicating that the quantities that were destroyed and exited from the production department as a result of fires are estimated at 5 thousand tons of wheat and 7 Thousands of tons of barley.

And the safety of farmers called for adherence to safety instructions and prevention of fires in agricultural areas, especially cultivation of areas near public roads, installation of spark exhausts in harvesters and tractors that perform harvesting operations and guarding lands during the current period to deal with fires as soon as they occur.

It is noteworthy that the majority of the fires that occur in the western province of the province are the result of sabotage operations fabricated by the Turkish occupation forces and their mercenaries who are in the region to cut the livelihood of farmers and starve them.
