Bad Wiessee wants to advance cycling. That costs the community quite a bit: It has now commissioned a mobility concept and would like to involve the citizens in it too.

Bad Wiessee - Bad Wiessee wants to get to its destination as quickly as possible on the way to the bike-friendly community. The local council therefore decided at its meeting on Thursday evening to commission traffic planner Ralf Kaulen to create a cycle traffic concept. For this, the municipality is holding a stick of money in hand: The committee deliberately - and unanimously - decided on the more expensive variant with public participation. The new committee for energy, climate protection and mobility had already recommended it. The drafting of the concept by the specialist office should cost 37,247 euros.

There was no doubt in the local council that the desired membership in the Working Group for Bicycle-Friendly Municipalities (AGFK) is the right way. "But we should check whether we can use synergies in the Tegernsee Valley," suggested Rolf Neresheimer (Bad Wiessee Citizens List). After all, the neighboring municipalities of Gmund and Kreuth had already followed the same path - also with the Kaulen office.

Mayor Robert Kühn (SPD) even knew from the current mayor's briefing that Tegernsee and Rottach-Egern are also striving for bicycle friendliness. Nevertheless, Kühn made it clear: "Each community must create its own concept so that it can become a member."

Florian Sareiter (CSU) was nevertheless interested in cross-valley cooperation in this matter. The individual bike concepts should “meet” at some point, he said. Otherwise, the path taken is "not bad". "We will vote for an appropriate solution," announced Sareiter. And Bernd Kuntze-Fechner was also convinced: "Bad Wiessee has a long tradition of cycling - we have the potential to do a lot more cycling in town." There was also agreement to actively take the citizens along on this path, possibly via an online survey.

Kurt Sareiter (CSU) spoke again on the subject of cycling under the item "Wishes and suggestions", which had to be reintroduced in the Wiesseer municipal council with the new term of office. He praised the decision of the panel last September to ban cycling in the core area of the lake promenade again. "That was a good decision," said Sareiter. Corresponding signs were also attached. However, there are no controls by the police, the CSU representative complained. Rathaus-Kühn had already taken on the subject. The municipality is planning a “weekend of action” with the police on the lake promenade, he announced.
