The DPRK today renewed its categorical rejection of the American interference in China's internal affairs, especially with regard to the situation in Hong Kong.
A representative of the DPRK Foreign Ministry stressed in a statement carried by Reuters that "the Hong Kong issue is completely related to China's internal affairs and therefore no country or force has the right to interfere in its issues," noting that the National Security Law promulgated by China regarding Hong Kong "is a legitimate step to protect the security of the country." ”
The DPRK diplomat reiterated Pyongyang's categorical rejection of "external interference harmful to security and the social and economic development of Hong Kong."
China had earlier confirmed by its Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Li Jian that it would take countermeasures if the United States insisted on interfering in its internal affairs and took action in response to Hong Kong's National Security Law which was approved by the Chinese parliament yesterday.
