Police officer Kelly Chauvin, wife of police officer Derek Chauvin, who was stabbed to death by a black young man named George Floyd, sparking violent riots across the United States, filed for divorce from her husband on Saturday, according to a report by The Newspaper. Daily Mail. "The application was filed the same day it was decided to indict Chauvin for third-degree murder.

Kelly Chauvin's lawyer confirmed this: "I spoke to my client and her family today," said her lawyer, the Sakula Attorneys. "She is devastated by Floyd's death and her heart goes out to his family." He added: "Kelly and Derek have no children in common. My client wants to give privacy and security to her children, her older parents and extended family."

Kelly Chauvin, who previously won the Minneapolis Beauty Queen contest, has been married to Derek for a decade. The two met for the first time, ironically, at the Hanapin County Hospital in Minnesota - where George Floyd's death was announced a few days ago after the severe violence incident. Kelly, then a radiologist, met Chauvin after bringing a suspect to the test Medically before his arrest. The two got married in 2010.

Shubin was charged with third-degree murder. The amount of bail set for him is half a million dollars.

A wave of protests in the US

The cries "I can't breathe," from the video that sparked America in which a police officer strangled to death a black man arrested, were heard throughout the night in no less than 20 cities across the United States. The protest, which has rekindled racial controversy in the country, has taken thousands to the streets. So far, one victim is known to be in the demonstrations: a 19-year-old was shot dead in a shooting on a group of protesters in Detroit. Detroit police have admitted it is unknown yet whether the young man who was shot took part in the rally, or was a bystander who was hit by a stray bullet.

In Minneapolis, where the incident happened, it was another night of violent protests, even though the governor and mayor declared a curfew that was supposed to leave the streets empty. At least 5 people were arrested during the city riot. National Guard forces were called to the city in an attempt to take over the turbulent protests. According to media reports, tear gas and rubber bullets were used again to keep out angry protesters. At the same time, protesters say they will not stop the protest anytime soon, "we have not finished what they have to say."

"This is murder, what the hell is going on with us in the United States?"

At the same time, another record of the incident was revealed from a new angle, showing three police officers kneeling on George Floyd's neck during his arrest. One was identified as Trooper Derek Chauvin.

Another rallying point tonight was off CNN down in Atlanta, where thousands gathered in protest of George Floyd's death in Minneapolis. The protesters hung black signs of "Black Lives Matter", spraying inscriptions on the company's logo at the entrance to the building. One of the protesters threw a board at the windows, causing dozens of police officers to stay instead of using tear gas to keep the protesters away.
