Serge Baburin, former deputy of the Russian State Duma, head of the Russian Committee for Solidarity with the People of Syria and Libya, confirmed that the European Union’s decision to renew coercive measures against Syria indicates the utmost hypocrisy of European officials and their dependence on the United States.

In an interview with a SANA correspondent in Moscow, Baburin said that Western officials, by imposing coercive measures on Syria, not only contribute to starving its people and creating obstacles to its resurgence from among the ruins of what the terrorists have destroyed, but they create additional possibilities for the continuation of its suffering by undermining the work of the Syrian health and medical institutions so it cannot The EU resolution was described only as an attempt to genocide against the entire Syrian people.

Baburin pointed out that Russia condemns this racist policy of the European Union, expressing his hope that the European peoples and their progressive forces will contribute to curbing the policy of imposing sanctions and working to lift the coercive measures on the shoulders of the Syrian people.

In a similar interview, Boris Dolgov, chief researcher of the Department of Arab and Islamic Studies at the Orientalist Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, said that the European Union’s decision to renew coercive measures against Syria indicates that all of its boasts that it is an advocate of democracy in international forums is nothing more than political deception.

Dolgov said that the European decision came with political dictates by the United States, explaining that the European Union is running in the path that Washington has taken, and it is just a game in the hands of the United States in terms of tightening pressure on Syria.
