At least five non-Syrian and Iranian-backed fighters were killed in an air strike in eastern Syria on Sunday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.
According to the director of this NGO Rami Abdel Rahmane, "Israel is probably responsible" for the attack. The strike targeted three military vehicles belonging to pro-Iran paramilitaries in the vicinity of the city of Boukamal, near the border with Iraq.

Since the start of the conflict in Syria in 2011, Israel has carried out hundreds of strikes in this neighboring country against the forces of Damascus but also against those of Iran, the Lebanese movement Hezbollah and other pro-Tehran groups, which participate in the war alongside the regime.
Israel rarely confirms its attacks in Syria but regularly hammers that it will not let this country become the bridgehead of Iran which it accuses of seeking to increase its military presence and its influence at its border, by taking root in Syria.
