George Floyd, an African-American man from Minnesota, was suspected of being killed by police officers on May 25 due to excessive violent law enforcement, triggering a large-scale demonstration riot in the United States. President Donald Trump held a video conference with the nation's governors on Monday (June 1), criticizing their weak performance and urging states to take tough measures to respond to the demonstrations.

According to reports, Trump told the governors: "You must fight for the initiative, otherwise you will look like a stupid person, and you must arrest and try these people (troublemakers)." He emphasized that the states should call for more National Guard troops to display force on the streets, and described the riot as a war in a sense; it is the responsibility of the governors, not the White House, to quell the turmoil.

Trump said that the world is making fun of all states in the United States. He believes that the response to demonstrations is not strong enough to cause violence, and he accuses the radical left of inciting violence.

In addition, the demonstration wave entered a week, and curfews were imposed in nearly 40 cities across the United States. After three days of peaceful demonstrations in New York City, police clashes broke out. The police arrested more than 250 people and injured 7 police officers. A curfew will be implemented at 5 am, and the police will be doubled on the streets.

Mayor Bill de Blasio disclosed earlier that he is discussing with the police chief and New York Governor Andrew Cuomo to implement a curfew, but has not yet decided to take into account the pros and cons. He said that some demonstrators looted and destroyed many famous stores in the Soho district of Manhattan, which made him consider changing his mind.
