Vasco da Gama reported this Sunday that 16 players from his squad tested positive for Covid-19, within the framework of the generalized testing that the club in which the Argentines play Martín Benítez - formerly recently incorporated Independent - and Germán Cano takes forward to prevent more infections

In a video published on Vasco TV, the head of the institution's medical department, Marcos Teixeira, announced that, due to the coronavirus pandemic, 250 people, including players, technicians and leaders, underwent a series of tests to determine their health condition.

"Three athletes had contact with the virus and were cured. Another 16 came with positive tests. The latter are isolated from the group and will continue with medical contact and serial tests until we are sure that they will no longer be able to transmit this virus to the rest." Teixeira explained in the video, which revealed the number of infected but not the names.

The rest of the players will attend the facilities of the Sao Januario stadium on Monday, although not to train but to undergo new diagnostic and physical exams, in order to find out if there was contagion.

The situation of Vasco Da Gama is framed in the midst of a very tough health crisis in Brazil, where the pandemic struck like in no other country in the region: until this Monday, the deaths approached 30,000, with more than 500,000 cases in total and infections without brake.
