On April 21, the first case of coronavirus was officially announced in towns 31 and 31 Bis de Retiro. In those days the neighborhood referents and social organizations made visible the complexity of carrying out the isolation that the President had decreed a month ago. The crowding in the settlements and towns of the City makes the idea of "staying at home" unfeasible. And the situation took context with that first case: that of a young woman, 43, who lived in a 3-square-meter room with her parents, both over the age of 80. The mother was also diagnosed and a few weeks later she died; He was the first victim of the virus in this popular neighborhood.
From that moment, the numbers did not stop growing in towns and settlements. And although they still consider that it is early to confirm a trend, in recent days the daily appearance of cases has stabilized.
According to official data, the total number of positives in the City is 9,786; while in vulnerable neighborhoods, 4,083 are infected . They represent almost 42% of the total. Meanwhile, deaths constitute a lower average in relation to infections. So far there have been 228 in the City, and in the towns 31. Until this Monday, all the deaths were concentrated in two poor neighborhoods: Father Ricciardelli (1.11.14) in Flores and the 31 and 31 Bis in Retiro. In the first, 18 people have already died, and in the second, 13 neighbors. This Monday the first fatal victim was known in the villa 21.24 of Barracas.
Until the first case was confirmed in villas 31 and 31 Bis, there were almost no statistics on what was happening in the neighborhoods. On Monday, April 27, the official information already identified 20 positive cases. By Thursday the 30th the infections had shot up to 124. Since then, the escalation continued to rise.

However, in the last week there has been a kind of shock in the numbers in vulnerable neighborhoods: on May 25, 280 positives had been detected, as of that day the cases fell. In the Capital, according to data from the General Directorate of Statistics and Censuses of the Ministry of Finance and Finance, there are 38 vulnerable neighborhoods (towns, settlements and transitory housing units). The virus is present in 21 of them . As said, the highest concentration occurs in villas 1.11.14 and in 31 and 31 Bis. In the first there are 1,185 positives. And in Retiro there are, between both parts of the neighborhood, 2,175 infections .
Both settlements are considered the largest in the City with at least 40 thousand inhabitants. In size, they are followed by three other towns where door-to-door tests are also being carried out: in Barracas 21.24 there are 275 positive cases. And in the 20 and 15 of Villa Lugano (Pope Francis and Hidden City), where tests are also being carried out, 85 and 39 cases were detected.
