Special envoy to Minneapolis
Minneapolis went without transition from containment to curfew. The major riots that ravaged the city last week have stopped since the deployment of the National Guard and the establishment of the state of emergency, but the looting continues and the residents organize their own protection. At nightfall, the streets empty, and the roar of invisible helicopters spinning in the sky adds to the dismal atmosphere.

East Franklin Avenue, which crosses the city in the direction of the Mississippi, is just a succession of plywood panels. Fixed on the windows in protection against looters, they are not always used for much. Some carry messages painted in paint to the vandals: "Please don't burn, people live next door." Either indicate in full that the owner is black or belongs to an ethnic minority, or sum it up with the acronym POC: personn of color
