New York City is going to be under curfew as of Monday after the riots over the death of George Floyd at the hands of the police, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced in a tweet.

"I spoke to (New York) governor Andrew Cuomo and for everyone's safety, we have decided to put in place a curfew for New York City this evening: it will come into effect at 11:00 p.m. and will be lifted at 5am , " said the mayor of the economic capital in a tweet, following in the footsteps of some 40 other cities that have already taken this measure.
