Revolution in East Jerusalem: The City of Jerusalem announced the start of the first phase of the Silicon Wadi project, in which the municipality plans to establish commercial and industrial areas in the east of the city, and strengthen the trust between the city's Arab residents and the municipality.

Under the plan, some 200,000 square feet of employment space is expected to be built, with emphasis on the high-tech, trade and hotel industry. Among the goals of the project are to create about 10,000 high-quality employment places in East Jerusalem and to increase the employment rate of women from East Jerusalem, as well as to increase the trust between the East Jerusalem population and the municipality and the government, and to strengthen the status of the Israeli East Jerusalem curriculum as a key to higher education and employment. It should be noted that a Washington Institute survey last month identified a significant decline in Israeli identity of East Jerusalem residents.

At the same time, another plan was put in place around the city, under which 13 streets in the city will become streets from the street until the end of August. On these streets, street artists and local tours will be held and tables and chairs will be placed on the sidewalks.

Streets to be turned into pedestrians:

• Mahane Yehuda Market pedestrian street Wednesday and Thursday - 23: 00-19: 00 and Friday 15: 00-09: 00 (without Agripas)

• Hillel Street: Tuesdays 23: 00-17: 00 and Thursdays 23: 00-18: 30

• Shamai Street: Mondays and Wednesdays, 11 pm to 5 pm

• Queen Shlomzion Street: Fridays, 3 pm-11:30pm

• Lily Street: Monday to Thursday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

• Gaza Street: Tuesdays, 23:00 - 18:00 and Fridays, 16:00 - 13:00

• Ghost Valley: Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11pm to 6pm

• Bethlehem Road: Monday and Tuesday, 11 pm to 6 pm

In addition, the Jerusalem Municipality will open another pedestrian street in the east of the city.

Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Leon addressed both projects, saying: "We are taking another step towards realizing a historic plan in East Jerusalem and bringing a huge line to the economy in Jerusalem in general and East Jerusalem in particular, with an increase in high-tech employment supply. We will make sure to bring here the leading companies in the economy and high quality personnel Most in the east of the city. We will work in full synchronization with the planning, employment and training factors, in order to truly revolutionize and create hope in the east of the city as well. "

On the pedestrian project, he added: "As part of our desire to access and contribute to the sense of security spending on the commercial streets as well as the desire to propel the Jerusalem economy forward, while assisting businesses and encouraging wider recreation outside the businesses, we initiated the project to transform the streets into pedestrians. Provided. From helping the commerce business, through the restaurant business to the artists and producers. I urge the residents - go out and strengthen the local business. "

Councilor Yehuda Ben Yosef holds the business portfolio: Twice a week in the late evening, and the program will alternate between several neighborhoods that will become an experiential pedestrian street in the city.
