The construction of a raised tank is expected to be the only major project that the municipality of Antdorf is tackling this year. The investment is part of the budget approved by the Antdorfer municipal council. Other projects such as the redesign of the village square will no longer be tackled this year.
Antdorf - It was something like his last major official act: Shortly before the end of his term of office, the "old" town council of Antdorf approved the budget for 2020. According to Mayor Klaus Kostalek, the financial situation of his community is solid. "We are satisfied," said the mayor. Antdorf has no debts, but also has no large reserves. The Corona crisis would not hit Antdorf economically, since mainly craft businesses are located in the village, Kostalek suspects.
Construction of a drinking water high tank should begin this year
No major projects are planned in Antdorf - at least not this year. "Only a new elevated tank will be started this year," says Kostalek. A total of around three million euros have been earmarked for this. Of this, 1.177 million euros are budgeted for this year under the water supply item. According to Kostalek, the measure should begin in autumn 2020.
Road construction measures (EUR 327,500) are another major expenditure item in the budget. Antdorf also plans to start planning for a new construction area west of the town as well as planning for the new kindergarten. Construction of the latter is "hopefully" according to Mayor Kostalek in 2021. In the 2020 budget, 481,000 euros are earmarked for construction areas and around 67,000 euros for kindergarten.
Kindergarten and village square no longer this year
The new kindergarten is one of the larger projects that Antdorf has been dreaming of for a long time. The estimated total costs are between 2.5 and 2.8 million euros. After deducting the funding - the municipality of Antdorf has already made a corresponding application - the municipalities' own contribution is estimated at around one million euros.
Other major projects of the future include the construction of a new fire station and the redesign of the village square. The existing fire station is to be rebuilt at a different location. Refurbishment is to be carried out in the listed building on the village square. None of these plans will be tackled this year, says Kostalek. "But it is planned for the future." Money has already been earmarked for the budget for the coming years. For example, for the kindergarten 2.801 million euros for the year 2021. For this year, a "needs-based" borrowing of over 2.167 million euros in the household is taken into account.
