This includes, among other things, the obligation to wear mouth-nose protection on the school premises and in the buildings, with the exception of classrooms. In addition, schools would pay more attention to signs of illness . If a student tested positive for the corona virus, all classmates and their teachers were given quarantine orders as first-degree contact persons.

After several private family celebrations, at least 68 people had been tested positive for Sars-CoV-2 in Göttingen *. On the Pentecost weekend, 131 people were tested, the city said. Some results of these tests are still pending. A sick person would continue to be treated in hospital.

Corona outbreak in Göttingen: Shisha bar opened illegally

After information that the infection could have taken place in a shisha bar, all six shisha bars in Göttingen were checked on Pentecost Sunday, one was closed. It was open against the country's Corona regulations. Several people who had been infected with the corona virus were previously in the shisha bar.

It is still unclear whether they would smoke from a hookah there, as is common in shisha bars. "The bar was closed, now a fine procedure is being examined," said city spokeswoman Cordula Dankert.

The authorities in Göttingen are working flat out to find all people who have had contact with the infected. 203 first-degree contacts were identified in the city and district of Göttingen, it said. All had received a quarantine order and were asked to be tested. Other contacts would have been found in Salzgitter, Osnabrück or the Eichsfeld district. These have been informed.

Many of those affected who became infected live in a rather dreary high-rise complex in the university town, the Iduna Center near Schützenplatz. The head of the Göttingen crisis team, Petra Broistedt, said to the "Göttinger Tageblatt": "We know of 60 contact persons who live in the Iduna center." The entire high-rise building with all 700 residents is now being quarantined, as was the case in one case happened a few weeks ago in North Rhine-Westphalia? "It would be inappropriate to isolate the entire house because of this," Broistedt told the newspaper.
