Edible cutlery from Göttingen: idea came at festival in India
It all started with the idea of making cutlery from bread , which leaves no garbage . Kulero founding member Hemant Chawla had this idea at a festival six years ago in his native India .
There the 24-year-old became aware of all the plastic waste . In June 2019 he finally founded Kulero GmbH in Göttingen with his good friend Kruvil Patel, who now takes care of the local production .
It takes up to 400 years for plastic cutlery to dissolve. Kulero , which means "spoon" in Esperanto, has declared war on plastic waste - with sustainable, edible spoons in different flavors.

The dough of the edible spoons is pressed and baked. However, the spoons give off no taste when eating: "Our spoons last up to 60 minutes when cold and up to 25 minutes when hot," says Hemant Chawla in an FFH interview. With their smooth surface and a thickness of 3 millimeters, the edible spoons are very user-friendly.
