The two suspects are 16-year-old students and 17-year-old unemployed teenagers. They are friends and have triad backgrounds. One of them learns to make burning devices online. Liang Huiyi, senior inspector of the New Territories South Regional Crime Unit, said that the preliminary investigation believed that some residents of the unit involved had retaliated with the suspects in the past, and there was no evidence that the arson case was related to social movements or anti-fix cases.

Liang Huiyi said that the police received a report from a female resident of Unit 1 of Rongshu Building in the early hours of Sunday, saying that there were suspicious objects outside her unit that caught fire. She put out the fire by herself and no one was injured in the incident. Police and fire investigations revealed that the suspicious items burned included telephones, batteries and wires. The Explosives Disposal Division was called to the scene and initially believed that the suspicious items were self-made burning devices.

The case was handed over to the New Territories South Regional Crime Unit for follow-up. After in-depth investigation and intelligence analysis, two young men were involved in the case. They were arrested in Kwai Chung on suspicion of arson this morning and their phones and batteries were seized in their apartment. , 2 people are being detained for investigation.

According to the news, the two suspects met at the scene of the demonstration. One of the suspects had a dispute with the son of the head of the unit involved. Through the other suspect, he obtained the items involved, and then placed them in the corridor outside the unit where the incident occurred. Used to avenge private complaints.

Liang Huiyi said that the Explosives Disposal Division initially believed that the device was connected to chemicals, but further testing was still required to determine its mode of operation. She pointed out that the police are very concerned about the case, especially the arson with a burning device, which seriously endangers the safety of the person and property of themselves and others.
