This announcement arrives surprisingly and in itself not. In early summer 2019, the young activist had finished ninth grade - and thus left compulsory schooling behind. From the outset, only one year of “time out” was planned. Now Thunberg should continue the school career in a secondary school.
The school-free year was hardly a relaxing one: Thunberg made plenty of headlines, from a well-received speech by the United Nations (to be found in the word run at Merkur.de *) to appearances in South America or at the World Economic Forum in Davos. Observers were even worried about the health of the teenager - albeit by remote diagnosis from Germany.
From the air battle can be the young Swede, however unlikely. It wasn't until the Pentecost weekend that she caused a sensation with criticism of German politics.
