Sai Kung District Councillor Ho Wai Hang said that because the Sai Kung Highway project is underway from Beiwei to Ho Chung, Beiwei is the worst hit. He pointed out that he would know if the engineering company had done proper flood control work in various villages to find out the cause of the flooding. He will also ask relevant departments to improve channels and assist residents in recovering compensation.

The project is the first phase of the Sai Kung Highway Improvement Project. According to the Highways Department website, the project aims to improve the two sections of Sai Kung Highway between Clear Water Bay Road and Marina Cove, and the access roads in Ho Chung and Luwei Village. The main contractor is China National Construction Engineering (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2020.
