The first step for the digitization of the Altenstadt primary school has been taken. To this end, the municipality invited IT expert Werner Ostheimer to explain which concept would have to be implemented for the primary school with four classes and the current 85 students.

Altenstadt - "The school is burning under the nails, they prefer the IT equipment today rather than tomorrow," said Altenstadt Mayor Andreas Kögl at the recent meeting of the town council. So far, the IT equipment in the elementary school has been rather modest: a laptop in the rectorate, one computer in the secretariat, one in the teachers' room and in the four classrooms.

According to IT expert Werner Ostheimer from Seefeld, one had to set up a digital network to standardize the components. Means that teachers should have control over their students from their place. This requires a total of 60 tablets with 47 workstations.

The children would have to be taught a certain level of basic competence. "We have to make sure that the children come into contact with computers and the Internet at primary school" is important for Ostheimer. The ultimate goal is the media passport.

The equipment costs 108,000 euros

The whole thing of course also costs money. The bottom line is 108,000 euros. “I had 30,000 to 35,000 euros in my ears,” said Altenstadt's new mayor, saying that the first step was pretty tough.

However, the municipality, as the school debtor, does not have to raise the 108,000 euros alone. As part of the digital offensive, the Bavarian government is contributing 42,000 euros to the total costs. "We will get good equipment for the next six to seven years," Kögl is convinced.

No decision yet

It is already clear that this project was discussed in the Altenstadt municipal council. For example, Bernhard Schönes suggested that the concept proposed by Ostheimer be checked by a specialist. "A second concept makes no sense," said the mayor. Johann Deschler said, "We should hurry, after all, the school is on fire".

Anja Mross, the principal of the primary school, would like to invite the mayor and the members of the local council to the school so that they can get an idea of the need for IT equipment.

However, nothing was decided. The whole thing should only serve as information, said Kögl and announced the necessary decision for the next meeting of the local council.
