At a family celebration, a twelve-year-old girl steals the car keys from her dad. With the younger cousin in tow, she takes a fatal jaunt.
It could have been worse: On Saturday around 5.45 p.m., a 12-year-old took her father's car key during a family celebration in Langenbach. With her seven-year-old cousin in tow, she got into the family car, which was parked on the street, for a little jaunt.
She didn't get very far: the girl started the automatic car and drove straight for about 50 meters. In a left turn it wanted to turn to put the car back in the parking lot. When driving backwards, however, it hit the wall of a local shop.
Children in shock
The parapet wall, about 50 centimeters high, broke and was partially pushed into the shop. The shop window remained whole, but bent in. The children remained unharmed, but were in shock. Property damage to the building: around 3000 euros; on the car: 500 euros. (ft)
