Maxi (14) from Günzlhofen has a special hobby: He creates elaborate cakes and pies - including the wedding cakes for two of his cousins.

Günzlhofen - If you need a cake for a family celebration that does a good job, you either have to go to the kitchen yourself or order the delicacy from the confectioner. It's different with the Gruschka family in Günzlhofen. Here you can order from Maxi. The 14-year-old has been creating elaborate cakes and tarts for several years now - including the wedding cakes for two of his cousins.

At the age of seven, the student discovered his passion for baking. It all started with his grandmother Erna in the kitchen. Back then we started baking with Platzerl. At the age of ten, he started baking completely himself and also developing and trying out his own creations. The first piece of art was an M&M cake. "And it really turned into something," he still proudly remembers his debut work.

He came up with his favorite cake last year. "I was bored and tried out a bit." The result was a forest berry cake with mascarpone. It has now become Maxi's favorite cake. In the meantime, the cake is always made when "we have berries at home", says Maxi.

Mama Monika can of course continue to bake. "But she also likes it when I do it," said the 14-year-old. And if he works in the kitchen, watching is also allowed. "And they always come to try anyway," he reveals about his two sweet tooths, Mama Monika and Papa Achim.

Incidentally, he always likes to order two things from family celebrations: Black Forest cake and cheesecake. And that Maxi then bakes is no question: "I always do something for birthdays." The 14-year-old also wants to turn his hobby into a profession. "I want to be a confectioner," he says clearly. He has already completed one internship, with at least another to follow.

The company in Königsbrunn, where he sniffed, would take him immediately, he says. But first he will finish his school education. There are only positive reactions to his hobby from his family and friends. "Everyone thinks it's good."

And he diligently presents his finished creations on social networks. Maxi's masterpiece was previously two wedding cakes that he was allowed to make for two of his cousins. "I was very nervous because one was three-story - it took a long time, but it worked very well," he reports.

So far, he has only had to experience once that one of his cakes failed. A creation with mousse is slumped in the fridge. Maxi: "Very strange, I don't know how that could have happened." But this one failure is countered by numerous successful creations, which is easy for the 14-year-old to cope with.
