The area planted with wheat and barley crops affected by the fires in Al-Hasakah Governorate for the current season reached 16,250 hectares distributed over various areas of agricultural stability.

The head of the Plant Production Department in the Agricultural Directorate, Eng. Jalal Bilal, told a SANA reporter that the area affected by the fires included 10 thousand hectares of wheat and 6250 hectares of barley, where the fires were concentrated in the countryside of the cities and regions of Al-Hasaka, Al-Houl, Al-Shadadi, Aborasin, Tal Barak and Ras Al-Ain, pointing out that lost production quantities from The burned areas are estimated at 20 thousand tons of wheat and 10 thousand tons of barley.

Eng. Bilal stressed the importance of farmers and producers' commitment to the instructions and guidelines circulated by the Directorate through the agricultural departments deployed in the governorate related to preventing and controlling fires as soon as they occur.

It is noteworthy that the cultivated areas of wheat and barley crops that were damaged by fires during the last season amounted to more than 25 thousand hectares throughout the province of Hasaka.
