Nazareth Illit resident murdered his 20-year-old wife 4 years ago while pregnant and reported being abducted • According to the indictment, he strangled her to death in Zimmer and buried her body

Nazareth District Court convicted Awani Ziadat, 28, of Elite Nazareth in the murder of his wife (20) who was pregnant. 

The indictment against Ziadat was filed by the North District Attorney's office about four years ago, in December 2016, and he attributed to him felony murder and kidnapping charges of his wife who was pregnant. According to the indictment, between the two, murky relationships prevailed until he made the decision to kill his wife on suspicion that she wanted to leave him and prevent him from raising the child. 

The late Awani Ziadat and Ahlam were married for a year until the night of October 24, 2016, when the murder took place. According to the indictment, that day, Ziadat Zimmer invited Nazareth Elite and told his wife that he wanted to spend a night with her outside the house. During their stay in Zimmer, he strangled her to death, left Zimmer carrying his body in his hands, put her in the vehicle and left. Police seized the documentation from the security cameras that were located where the defendant's vehicle appeared to be with his late wife to Zimmer, and his exit from the Zimmer carrying something on his hands.

Shortly thereafter, the defendant arrived at his sister's home, in Nazareth Illit, where she lives with her partner and asked him for a herd, and after receiving it, left the place. The defendant lifted the body of the deceased and a few hours later, returned to the nurse's house and confessed to her that he had strangled the deceased to death, and that she would never find her body.

The next day, at about 20:00, the defendant arrived at the house and falsely told her mother and brother of the deceased that the deceased had been abducted a few hours earlier, while making their way by car from Haifa to Nazareth, near the settlement of Zippori. Later that evening, the defendant showed up at the police station and deliberately made a false statement stating that the deceased had been kidnapped from Haifa to Nazareth.
