Attention hikers and mountain bikers: The path from Söllbach to Auer Alm and Fockenstein is partially completely blocked for two months due to renovation.

Bad Wiessee - Georg Erlacher (CSU) surprised the local council with the news about the renovation of the Fockenstein mountain trail. Erlacher is one of the 27 property owners along the route. And they are now tackling the measure. “Little was done recently,” explains Erlacher. "Only with the excavator was the necessary essentials repaired every now and then." The path was therefore washed out, it no longer had a profile and was in poor condition.

So now a professional company has to get started. The renovation should extend over six kilometers - from the Neuhüttenalm down towards Söllbach Valley. For hikers and cyclists who prefer to spend their holidays in Bavaria and also push into the Tegernsee valley, this means that they have to accept detours for their tours on the Bad Wiesseer side. "There will be a detour via the Zeiselbach," announces Erlacher. Hikers are therefore redirected to the parking lot at Sonnenbichl. However, attempts are also being made to handle the construction site in such a way that the road is partially passable at least for pedestrians on weekends. The renovation takes between one and two months.

Focksteinweg: renovation costs 80,000 euros

The owners have to dig deep into their pockets for the work. In the specific case it is called Wegekasse. The owners fill them regularly and, as now, use them to pay for all measures. According to Erlacher, the current renovation costs around 80,000 euros. However, those affected expect a government grant.

The first dates for the drive-in cinema are in place.

"I don't want to blame anyone that the way is now in such bad shape," says Erlacher. He comes to speak indirectly about the dispute with the community, which was already stirring up dust in 2017. At that time, the municipality had in turn canceled a commitment to maintain the route. As a result, this should be the sole responsibility of the owners. The latter, in turn, struck out and made their properties in the valley no longer available for tracing cross-country trails. However, the dispute was settled, a new agreement was reached: According to this, the residents should take care of the maintenance, the combing of the municipality should be responsible for running the way ticket office and should also help in the event of major damage. In addition, the owners receive an annual fee for operating the toboggan run.

After the renovation has been completed, Erlacher and his colleagues want to seek a discussion with the community again because of the agreement. "Perhaps there are other views of the new mayor now," says Erlacher. For him it was clear that the path would have to be cultivated in the future so that it was quiet for a long time.
